Improving Store Management Effectiveness

North America, 1986
North America Council, 1986: By asking key questions to 480 store and department managers, in May 1986, the Coca-Cola Retailing Research Council set out to identify and accurately describe the characteristics of effective management in today’s supermarket industry. Basically, this study discovered that there were critical aspects in the way managers did their jobs, which could be identified and measured.

These factors were very consistent across the industry, and there was a great deal of difference between effective and ineffective managers on those measures. Most important to retailers’ growth, they were, for the most part, things that could be learned under adequate motivation.
